VW’s Kariega plant celebrates new production achievement
Volkswagen Group Africa’s Kariega plant has reached a new milestone, producing its 500,000th unit of the latest Polo model, a Kings Red example headed for Germany. The Eastern Cape facility, which became known as the “Home of Polo” just over a year ago, has been assembling the popular hatchback since 1996.

On January 31 the Pretoria high court ruled on a motor insurance case in which an insurer had denied a policyholder’s claim after his vehicle was stolen. According to the insurer’s rejection letter, the claim was denied because the policyholder failed to prove that, at the time of the theft, the insured vehicle was fitted with an operational tracking device. The insurer further asserted the policyholder had misrepresented the facts by stating the vehicle had an operational tracker.
